Hairdressing NVQ changes

From August 1st 2010 there are new qualifications

Hair and Beauty Qualifications changes

All the Hair and Beauty qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) expired in July 2010. They have been replaced by new Hair and Beauty qualifications which will be available for delivery from 1 August 2010 on the new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

Significant changes to the NVQs include:

• Minor changes to the title of the qualifications e.g.
• The NQF title was Level 1 NVQ in Hairdressing and Barbering – The new QCF title will now be Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering.
• The NQF title was Level 2 NVQ in Hairdressing – QCF title is now Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing.
• The optional structure to each qualification has changed from the minimum number of optional units to be taken to minimum number of optional credits to be taken. This is still in addition to the mandatory units needed to achieve the qualification.

There are a number of training providers and colleges that provide courses in hairdressing. Hairdressing courses usually last between one and two years but some training providers offer intensive courses to enabling you to obtain your qualification much faster. For hairdressing jobs click here
