Hairdressing Apprenticeships

The Job Role

From consulting clients on what style they should have to colouring their hair, a Hairdressing Apprenticeship covers all aspects of hairdressing. A hairdressing Apprentice works as a salon junior, helping other more senior members of staff with their duties, all the while training as a stylist.

Responsibilities will consist of booking client appointments, washing and shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair. You will also probably be mixing and applying colouring or dye to clients’ hair. In addition you will learn hairdressing a number of issues such as hair and skin testing, and the theories of hair colour selection.

Advanced Apprentices take their learning a step further by developing their cutting and colouring skills so they can carry out all the latest fashion techniques – and maybe even determine the fashion looks of the future.

The expected salary of a qualified hairstylist

Approximately £10,000 - £16,000 once fully qualified.
